Asian Eyelid Surgery

Double-eyelid surgery creates a visible upper-eyelid crease while preserving a natural Asian eyelid look. We offer three approaches—Non-incisional (suture-only), Hybrid (mini-incision), and Incisional (open)—and tailor the choice to your eyelid anatomy and goals.

Your Options

Non-incisional (Suture-only)

A minimally invasive technique using fine buried sutures to create the crease without external incisions.
Best for thinner lids with minimal excess fat.
Recovery usually ~3–5 days.
Why people choose it: gentle, reversible, and quick to heal.

Hybrid (Mini-incision + buried sutures)

Combines tiny openings with buried sutures for added stability and subtle contour shaping.
Best for mild fullness or when you want a longer-lasting crease without a full incision.
Recovery around ~5–7 days.

Full incisional (Open)

An incision hidden in the crease allows precise reshaping of skin, fat, and muscle.
Best for thicker or ageing lids, excess skin/fat, or previous failed sutures.
Recovery usually ~7–14 days.
Why people choose it: most durable and most versatile option.

A note on “Forever / W / Cross-link” terminology

These are branded variations of suture-only techniques. They can last very well in suitable eyelids, but no suture-only method is truly permanent, as tissues naturally change over time. If long-term stability is your priority, the full incisional method remains the most reliable.

Surgical literature snapshot: Published studies report crease loosening in 5–10% of non-incisional cases over 1–5 years, compared with ~1–5% for incisional techniques; hybrid outcomes sit between these ranges.

Sedation Options (comfortable and simple)

For most patients, local anaesthetic with optional oral sedation is more than enough to stay relaxed and comfortable.
Deeper IV sedation or general anaesthetic is available if needed but requires a consultant anaesthetist and a hospital-grade theatre, which we can discuss during your consultation.

Revision & Assurance Policy (your peace of mind)

Most patients achieve their intended result with one operation. If a clinically significant issue (such as clear crease loss or noticeable height asymmetry) occurs within the typical settling period, we offer a fair and predictable pathway for refinement.
Minor preference adjustments (e.g., wanting a slightly higher or lower crease) are elective and quoted transparently.
We also time any revision safely — usually after three months for suture-based techniques and six months for incisional methods — to allow the tissues to settle fully.

How do fees work?

Because every eyelid is different and each surgical plan is tailored, we provide individualised written quotes rather than publishing fixed prices online.

After your consultation, you will receive a clear, itemised quote the same day, outlining the surgeon fee, facility fee, and (if required) anaesthetist costs — with no surprises.
Standard consultation fee applies, and there is no obligation to proceed with surgery.

What influences the fee?

  • Which technique is most appropriate (non-incisional, hybrid, or full incisional)

  • Whether additional procedures are needed (e.g., ptosis correction, epicanthoplasty, fat contouring)

  • Choice of sedation (local anaesthetic vs IV sedation/GA)

  • Theatre location and facility requirements

  • Complexity of eyelid anatomy (asymmetry, scarring, previous surgery)

This approach keeps everything transparent, personalised, and aligned with your goals.

Thinking about surgery overseas?

We appreciate that overseas prices can look attractive at first glance. Many patients, however, choose to stay in New Zealand for the reassurance of FRACS-trained specialist care, accredited facilities, and continuity with the same surgeon for planning, surgery, follow-up, and (if ever needed) refinement.
When you consider travel, accommodation, time off work, and the reality of follow-up care, staying local often provides clearer value and peace of mind.
